CHANGE IN FORMAT/PROCESS FOR 2021:
Starting in 2017 we have begun using printing ink instead of house paint for printing our images. This means artists do not need to carve their blocks as deep as in past years and this also allows for greater detail in the printed images. Artists can carve 1/4" or 1/2" MDF, Battleship Gray Linoleum or 1/4" Birch or Fir plywood. However, the printing ink is considerably more expensive than the house paint, so we therefore need to charge a fee for those not enrolled in a printmaking class at UM.
If you are wanting to participate in 2019, and want to bring a block to print you are more than welcome.
You will need to provide the following:
1-Contact James Bailey at [email protected] no later than October 5th. So we can order enough ink to have on hand.
2-Bring your board with you.
3-You provide your own fabric (can be any color, cotton is recommended)- We will be printing black ink only.
4-Cash or check made out to MATRIX Press. (Must be presented at the time of printing.)
FEE IS: $10.00 per 4'x8' print / $5.00 per 4'x4' or smaller print
As always, if you or your class are interested in just coming to the event to watch, All are welcome.
